In the beginning of 1999 four sophisticated boys decided to put their restless popheads together and play some music for the kids out there. Here´s the story of the swedish band with the short songs and the name Les Royales De Kiefers. Everybody needs to play barrechords sometime in their life, just to get that rockstar feeling for a little dreamy second or two. That´s pretty much the basic story of why four boys started rehearsing popsongs on the 3rd floor in a building named "Sugarusefarm" somewhere in the south of Sweden in the spring of 1999. "Everything´s moved so darn fast these months", said one of the members to me when I first met them in the middle of April. I asked him what he meant with this statement and it turned out that what he had in mind was the incredibly tempo that the band had made their songs. As for today LRDK has a repertoire containing nine own songs and two covers. All this in just three months which for all of the members are an extremely high songwriting and rehearsing scale. This might open up for some reactions from the readers, asking themselves "What have these lads been doing before LRDK?" the answer to the interesting question of history are a little divided and blurry. It´s a lot like decipher an old text when talking to the boys about the past, but what´s been said about them is the following: |
All of the boys had played in different bands before starting of with LRDK. Especially Sebastian and Andreas whice´ve played in several different constellations where the musical landscape has alternated with almost everything from hardcore-songs to slow and harmful acoustic popsongs. But the main reason why the boys of LRDK started to play together is because of the break up of a band called Chasing Fred which included three of the today four members of LRDK. The three popsters of CF realized that their true friend Andreas was an excellent choice for a new band and so they got together one afternoon in the cold Sweden and dreamed about sunshine, cocktails and brilliant popmusic. Three days later the four boys had rehearsed their first song and two weeks after that they had recorded three excellent popsongs. As for the future the boys are actually not planning more than to do what they feel like, which hopefully includes putting out som really nice songs for everyone who´s interested. When I talked to the boys last night they told me in chorus, "We´re really, really happy we started playing together". Then they smiled at each others with tender looks.
