Norway is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Here you can find quite a lot of mountains to trekk in. The views, the mixture between snowcovered mountains and the blue water of the fjords, can not be seen in many places of the world.

Almost one third of the surface is located north of the Polar Circle. The country is divied in five mainregions: Västlandet, Östlandet, Sörlandet, Nord Norge and Tröndelag.

For lovers of outdoorliving, Norway offers almost everything you want. The frequent raining is regretfully a negative point.

Norway is absolutely one of my favourite countries and I have visited it during all the seasons. Wintertime it offers fine skiing possibilities, crosscountry as well as downhill.
In the springtime or during summer you can visit some of the most beautiful places in the world.
The fjords with fruittrees reflected in the deep blue water, and the snowcovered mountains wrapped around the area, is a view you never will forget.

One of the most beautiful places, I visited, is the island of Senja, located between Tromsö and Lofoten. Here you can find wild and steep, snowcovered mountains abruptly descending into the sea with seaeagles flying above them.

Unforgetably is also fishing on the Varanger-peninsula in the midnightsun, or to visit some of the birdmountains that can be found here.

Visit Norway - you will not be disappointed!

Map over Norway

The base in the norwegian flag is the danish flag "Dannebrogen", which also was Norways flag during the long period under danish superior, 1380 - 1814.
In 1814 Norway and Sweden were unified. A few years after the union the blue cross was added to the flag. In 1905 when Norway and Sweden separated the flag was chonsen for the indenpendt Norway.

In the norwegian crest you can find a lion with a battle ax and a crown. These symbols can be traced till the beginning of the 13th century. The lion is a symbol for power and the battle axe was the traditional norwegian wapon in wars. The axe is also a symbol for the protector of the country, the Saint S:t Olof.
