Update 17 March 2000.

Stockholm Fire Department 125 years!

Stockholm Fire Department will be reorganised. Fire prevention work and Fire Brigade operations will be carried out by the three new Areas/districts. Appointed Area Commanders/Assistant Chief Fire Officers are Kjell Rognmo, Torwald Snickars and Bengt Wall. New Chief of Staff/Assistant Chief Fire Officer is Lars Hallander. The Fire Chief Hans Lagerhorn and Deputy Ola Almgren will stay in their position. The organisation will be in effect by the end of the year.

In Stockholm there are nine fire stations manned with 73 full time fire fighters. There are four watches in a two shift system, with ten hours day shift and fourteen hours night shift. Each station has two fire and rescue trucks and one turntable ladder. They are manned with at least eight men.

Fire Safety has become more and more in focus. Fire inspections, information and education of the public are important issues.
