The Beatles was formed in Liverpool, 1962 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Stuart Sutcliff. The Beatles early realised that England wasn't the place to make great music heard, so they went to Hamburg in Germany to play on smaller clubs to work themselves up. One night a man named Brian Epstein heard them play, and he was so pleased that he signed them to the famous producer George Martin, who came to mean a lot to theire forthcomming carrier. Schortly before theire first single was released - "love me do" - Stuart Sutcliff left the band and sadly died from brain hemoridge. But the band proceeded and got their European breakthrue with "she loves you" in 1963 and the year after they conquered the U.S. The music was from the beginning only Rock'n'Roll, now with the release of the LP "Help" in 1965 their music became less Rock'n'Roll, softer and more experimental. They mixed different musicstyles, like classical and oriental, and their arangments used the latest equipment there was to be found. After 1966 the Beatles concentrated on studiorecordings and stopped touring. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Heart Club Band" (1967) became the final result of their experimental studio work. After the great album their final recordings became again easier and simpler. The band went separately ways in 1970 after almost ten remarkable years. |
