H.M.S.Endeavour,a frigate, was launched in 1765. Three years later she was
prepared for a voyage (the first voyage 1768 - 1771) under Captain James Cook
(1728-1779)commander on the Pacific Ocean. Australia and Tahiti were discovered during that
period. Also New Zeeland and the Venus passage or Cooks Strait, the strait between the
North and the South Ilands were discovered.
As H.M.S. Endeavour returned to England in 1771 she brought back
all kinds of animals and vegetables that were unknown in Europe at that time.
