L=1035mm / J0710mm / Skala: 1:85
In the history of sailing vessels it is difficult to encounter a ship
with so many diverse activities during her active life as the
U.S. CONSTELLATION.
In fact she started her active life in 1789 and was not withdrawn from service until 1955.
Her missions varied; she seized numerous ships, she defended the Hawaii Islands against
annexation by the British in 1843, she transported food to Ireland during the great
Famine between 1845 and 1849. She was also the first American warship that visited
China in 1842. In 1871 she assigned as a school ship.
Today she brings about glorious memories to thousends of tourists that
visit her each year in Baltimore.
If she could talk, she could tell us a great deal about the history of America.
