The SAN JUAN NEPOMUCENO, 2700 tons and 74 canons was constructed in the Royal Shipyard at Guarnizo (Santander) and launched in 1765.
She rendered numerous important services to the Armada(Fleet) some of them in the Caribbian, where she participated in several sieges.
Under command of the Brigadier Don Cosme Damián Churruca S.J.NEPOMUCENO participated in the historical battle of Trafalgar 21 October 1805. In spite of being unmasted by Admiral Nelson´s artillery, she continued the battle with heroism and bravery by the sailors.
The wounded Admiral Nelson continued to direct the battle while the Brigadier Churruca, whose leg had been torn off by the howitzer, continued to voice the command FIRE! Unable to break the circle of fire formed by six enemy ships, the SAN JUAN NEPOMUCENO yielded with over 400 dead and injured on board.
