My intention with this site is to discuss issues that I believe are critical for the future of the travel industry. Various travel services are common elements in business travel, leisure travel and the meeting and event industry. Suppliers are airlines, rail operators, hotels, car rental companies, travel agencies and tour operators. When I retired in October 2003 I had been working with a major Swedish group of industries almost 38 years, as a Public Relations officer, as a full time meeting planner and the last 7 years as a travel manager with responsibility for a global corporate hotel programme and corporate travel information. With this experience and now in a position of total independence I feel free to discuss also rather delicate issues. I do not think the present development of the industry, particularly as concerns the distribution structures, will give us what we all need and expect, improved efficiency and lower costs.
