Göteborg by Night

Liam and I strolled around town this afternoon, as preparations for the millenium party are in full swing. The city is looking beautiful in a light dusting of snow.

Since it is December, night falls in mid-afternoon, and the city lights are reflected in the canals.

New Year's eve will be one big party downtown, and all the main squares are strung with lights in preparation.

Light-sculptures have appeared where none was before...

Suddenly our attention was caught by a group of exotic-looking pagodas.

Inside, we found a group of ice sculptors at work!

An ice elephant (slightly thawed)!

Liam is already collecting his raw materials to take it up!
