Today, Liam and I took a walk around Oxsjön, our local lake, which offered an opportunity to try out the new digital camera. Here is a selection of the results!
We have had a little snow, and this morning the temperatures
was down to -6, so the scenery is getting wintry. Oxsjön was indeed frozen
,
although I certainly wouldn't trust my weight to that
ice! We passed our usual grill place
,
although today we had no sausages with us.
I love the winter scenery. Here, for example, the reeds seem
to be growing out of the ice itself .
One of the fascinating things about snow is that one suddenly
sees animal tracks all around. I wonder what beast crossed the
lake at this point, for example
?
Liam is fascinated by all the details around him: his stock phrase is `Come here, I want to show you something´! Here we see
Towards the end of our walk Liam found some unusual tracks --
most are dogs, of course, since so many people walk theirs up at
the lake. But these were different. My guess is a deer, and not a
roe deer because they are so small: these tracks were maybe
3-4" long and over a foot apart. Perhaps a hart, if that is
what they are called in English. The deer had followed the path
for 1-200 metres: Liam was amazed that animals follow paths that
people have made!
Maybe this had something to do with it: . We almost never see vehicles at Oxsjön;
usually the road is closed. But today, we saw several. Hunting
season, perhaps?
If you click on the next thumbnail, you will see a panorama taken near the end of our walk, almost 360 degrees.
Liam says this is his best winter ever!
