I've compiled a new exe file for AsusTempster wich brings this baby up to v2.03. This patch fixes some bugs and adds the feature to save the "Shutdown Computer If Overheated" option between runs and reboots.

Please take caution with this feature and don't set the threshold too low so you'll end up in a constant "shutdown loop"...

A little note...
To minimize the risc of version conflicts, it's important that you uninstall the previous version of AsusTempster before installing version 2.00. Also, after backing up your logs or other files, completely empty the directory where the previuos version was installed (or delete the directory).

********* AsusTempster 2.0 *********

A new relase that fixes several bugs and introduces new, nice GUI.
This version also comes with several new features and will probably make the DLL-problem a little less significant. There's a new GUI too, inspired of WindowsXP beta 2.

Included in the package is a new version of the LogViewer - more handier than before and with some bugs fixed. To wrap it up nicely I've written a stand alone plug-in to AsusTempster; the Trayer. Trayer shows the CPU's temperature directly next to the clock and is very conservative with memory and CPU-cycles.

If you're using a mainboard from Asus, then you should definitely get AsusTempster!

The work on NETools is doing progress, but I´ve been busy with other things for a while. This means you´ll have to wait a while longer for it to be available. Sorry about that, but I had to deal with some personal stuff.

********* Gollum´s NETools *********

Gollum´s NETools is a small toolkit of useful applications that all use the same core component. This kit will function as a showcase for this network component that I´ve been working on for a while.

My vision is that the kit will gradually be expanded as I develop new programs for the component, so that you`ll only have to download and install the basic package once and then easilly recieve new functions by small updates.

This first release will contain a tool for keeping connections alive, and one for performing ICMP Echo Requests (ping) from Windows without having to open DOS-boxes.

The release will occur here only in the next few days, so be sure to check the site regullary!

********* Tweakfiles downloads! *********

I added to the archives, and after about 48 hours the downloads hit 1500. Seems ok to me. No bugs have been reported so far, and people seem to like the new version.

A question that users keep asking me is why AsusTempster doesn´t work with their specific mainboard (about 90% of the emails...). If you got this question, first check the FAQ on the page.

Hope you folks like v1.50, and PLEASE, click the banner once a while!

********* AsusTempster Update! *********

A bug was discovered in v1.50 that caused a "Path Not Found"-error when logging was enabled on systems using US-type dates. I´ve fixed it with great help from a user living in the US, so you can now download a new AsusTempster.exe or the full version.

AsusTempster seems to have about 12,000 downloads now! Nice, folks!

********* AsusTempster v1.50 Released! *********

As I intend to keep my promises, AsusTempster v1.50 is released today!
Here´s what is new in v1.50:

* LogViewer Path/fileaccess Error (75) when viewing a logfile that AsusTempster is using to log is now fixed.

* New version of LogViewer; minor bugfixes.

* Whole AsusTempster main window is now dragable (except for controls in it) instead of just via the hand-icon.

* By request AsusTempster now shows in taskbar when main window is visible.

* TrayIcon now has a menu to restore and exit program and shows green/red icon according to cpu-temp.

* By request option to shutdown computer when overheated. This option will default to disabled every startup to avoid getting stuck in "shutdown-mode" if threshold accidently been set too low.

* Button to minimize main window to SysTRay.

* "Can´t show Modal form"-bug hopefully fixed.

* Error logging to help me track bugs.

* Logfiles now in own subfolder.

* Whole Settings window dragable.

* Type Mismatch-error in dateconversion US vs. Swedish on some systems hopefully fixed. --- This is still a "beta"-fix --- Please let me now if it doesn´t work and attach your temp-log and errorlogfiles!

* AsusTempster WindowMarker features own SysTray menu.

********* AsusTempster v1.50!! *********

I´ve been working on version 1.50 the latest week and after some more testing the new AsusTempster will be released. I want to thank all you users who have been helping me discovering bugs and suggesting new functionality. That´s what keeps me going!
The new version will hopefully correct a few bugs discovered in v1.20 and I have also added some enhancements to the interface. There are some new application functionality as well.

I just want to make clear; the problems with some Asus-boards still apply. These problems come from the boards, not AsusTempster (thats why Asus have released separate versions of their Probe for different mainboards). So, if you´ve got, say a CUSL2 or A7V, follow the tips below even for v1.50. If you´ve got a dll-set that works with v1.20, it will also work with v1.50.
You can expect v1.50 by the end of this week (Saturday or Sunday). Check this site first! I will probably add it to Tweakfiles also, but that may take some time.

Problems with AsusTempster and CUSL2?

Philippe sent me a note that he got it to work by copying only the following DLL´s from the Asus PC-Probe package (v2.12 or later) into the AsusTempster directory, of course overwriting existing files. Thanks Philippe!

If you are having problems with AsusTempster (maybe using A7V or CUSL2?) you can try this out:

Download and install the latest release of Asus PC Probe (v2.12 or later). Then copy all dll-files from the installdirectory and paste them into your AsusTempster-directory. Note that this is experimental and may not work! The problem lies within the mainboards, not AsusTempster.

Today I´ve released MemInfo II version 0.90. This release is quite superior to MemInfo, and a lot more effective. There is no longer any use for the Windows Scripting Host (WSH), MemInfo II uses a totally different algorithm to restore leaked memory wich is also a lot faster.
