Crimetrial
This is how itīs works ?
When You arrive to the court You will be appealed before the hearing starts.
After that You have to wait outside the courtroom until itīs Your turn to testify. The intent
with this is that You shall tell your history without any influence of
what previous has been told in the courtroom. Before You can testify You have to take
the following oath:
"I (Your name) promise on my honour, that I shall tell
the truth, and nothing but the truth so help me God"
The oath is read by the courts chairman and You may say after. The parties and the court can
then ask You questions. If You are testify under oath and make a false statement You can
be punished for perjury.
How You tell your story and how You express your self has less importance. The
people You meet in court knows how it can be to witness for the first
time. The main thing is that what You tell is the truth and that You really tells everything
You know.
Time and money
As a witness You have the right to compensation for the travel to the court. Itīs the same
for any costs for subsistence and lost income. Specially
when the compensation shall be payed by public funds, forestall it however
limits both in question of compensation for the travel and for other
compensations.
If the compensation shall be taken from public funds it says on the summon which
compensationrules who is valid. Read it closely before You decide how You should
be travelling. On the summon it also says about the possibility to ask for advance payment.
Is it something that is vague when it comes to the compensation or if itīs something
else You wonder about, feel free to call to the court and ask your question. The courts
phonenumber and address is written on the summon.
Witnesshearing over the telephone
The court can in some cases decide that a witness can be heared over the phone instead of
appear in court.
